The Weeknd - Niagara Falls

Sexy, slow jam from a megastar.

The Weeknd is back with “Niagara Falls”, a track from his latest album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”. It feels like three songs in one. The first 40 seconds is just a chillwave instrumental with some distorted vocals in the background. When the superstar’s inimitable voice appears, the song becomes a sexy slow jam with a heavy drum and bass beat. The lyrics see the singer crooning about the good old days with a former flame. The last 30 seconds of the song see the singer hitting high notes as the song comes to a dramatic end. It’s a must-listen and has gone viral recently after the rapper Ye praised the drum production. Whether it becomes the next single remains in the air, but I would love to see a video for this track.

The Weeknd is nearing 15 years as a superstar. Having accomplished everything a pop megastar would ever want to do (multi-platinum albums, a catalog of classic hits, sold-out arena tours, and the Superbowl Halftime Show), it’s inspiring to see The Weeknd continue to change with the times while remaining true to the 80s synth-pop sound and edgy lyrics that made him famous. As he continues to venture into the acting world, I can definitely see him becoming a part-time singer in the future, producing music for the masses via movie soundtracks instead of full-length original albums a la Whitney Houston in the 1990s. As he nears his 35th birthday (February 16th), I can definitely see him leaning into becoming a media mogul as his music fanbase begins to age and dwindle in the coming years. From tv shows to movies and possibly even Broadway, the opportunities are endless! Until then, enjoy this wonderful track from his latest album below!
