Mariah Carey - Charlie Brown Christmas

Everyone knows Mariah’s classic Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, which is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this holiday season! Inevitably, it will soon take over the holiday and streaming charts for another year, capping an annual return to relevancy for the legendary pop diva. What’s often forgotten is that Mariah actually released a second Christmas album called “Merry Christmas II You” back in late 2010, shortly before giving birth to her twins. Featuring a mixture of Christmas standards and festive original holiday songs, it was a welcome reminder of how powerful Mariah’s vocal and songwriting prowess still was 20 years into her illustrious career!

My favorite song from this wonderful Christmas LP is “Charlie Brown Christmas”, a loving, faithful tribute to the main theme song from the classic 1965 animated holiday special “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. The song starts with audio taken from the film and then transitions into a cover of “Christmas Time Is Here”, where Mariah’s stunning falsetto works perfectly with the crackling, jazzy piano background. When I think about the perfect song to listen to as I sit in front of the fireplace with loved ones while the snow falls outside, this is it! So, check out this wonderful tribute to a classic holiday special and be sure to stream “Merry Christmas II You”, a wonderful successor to her 1994 landmark Christmas album.
