Dawes - I Love L.A.

Dawes recently opened the 2025 Grammy Awards with a wonderful cover of the 1983 Randy Newman classic “I Love L.A.”. The proceeds from this single will go to the relief effort for the recent LA wildfires. A love letter to the “City of Angels”, the updated cover sounds like it could have been released in the 1980s, albeit with some modern production flourishes.

I would recommend you give the original version a listen too while you’re at it. I know very little about Dawes but it’s great to see a relatively unknown band get a chance to showcase their talents on the grand stage at the Grammy Awards. The LA-based band has been around since 2009 and the lead singer Taylor Goldsmith is married to singer-actress Mandy Moore.
