“Echoes of Life”: An interview with MujjO
It was a pleasure to recently interview MujjO for the second time! In late January, he released his wonderful new EP called “Echoes of Life” and I’ve been listening to it ever since! We discuss the making of the EP, our favorite songs from the project, common themes throughout the album and what fans can expect from him in 2024! Be sure to check out the new EP at the end and continue to support his future work!
Why did you name your new EP "Echoes of Life"?
I named this EP "Echoes of Life" because its tracks take listeners on a journey where they experience the rollercoaster of life.
What was the inspiration behind the making of this EP?
The inspiration behind creating this EP was to express myself musically and showcase the knowledge I've gained throughout my musical journey. As you listen, you'll notice that these aren't your typical lo-fi tracks; the melodies progress, each trying to find its purpose—a genre I've coined "Prog-fi", which I've pioneered. Each track encapsulates the array of emotions, both good and bad, tied to particular situations I've experienced in my life. This EP isn't just a musical collection; it's my diary, a journey I'll always cherish and revisit in the future.
What feelings do you want the listener to get while listening to your new album?
Feelings of tranquility, peace, and solitude, as life is too short to worry about things beyond our control. The niche of this project is to bring listeners into the present moment and allow them to linger there awhile.
My favorite track is "A Moment in Reverie". The piano notes are amazing! Tell me more about the making of this song.
Absolutely. I spent 15 days crafting this track. The idea came to me during a piano jam session, almost like a divine intervention. Being self-taught, I've developed my own unique approach to music arrangement through consistent practice. It's truly rewarding to see my creations come to life, and I'm grateful for the support. Thank you for making it your favorite song!
What is your favorite song on the EP?
"Harmony in Solitude" is my favorite track from this EP because it transports me to a different dimension. I hope listeners will experience the same feeling when they listen to it.
Nature seems to be a common theme through the songs. Is this true?
Indeed, nature provides a sanctuary where one can escape from their problems, unwind, and find relaxation. Listening to this project in the background further enhances the experience.
What can listeners expect the rest of this year from you?
As usual, I will continue to contribute to the lofi community through fresh uptempo chillhop and sleepy/ambient projects, so there is a lot more music on the way. Additionally, I am aiming to collaborate with international lofi artists.
